The Forth and Clyde/Union Canals are really interesting. Each day of walking brought something interesting and different, lots of water birds. beautiful trees, lovely old bridges.

However it is in reality a long flat walk. There are very few places to rest weary feet let alone have a pee, the cyclists (especially around Glasgow and Edinburgh) are legion and sadly the usual large proportion of them are fast and aggresive and seem to have forgotten how to use a bell. Moreover the going is hard underfoot particularly on the longer stretches and the lack of places to rest exacerbates this.

In the sun though you forget this and for the most part it was great to see things that you would not normally stop to look at. Even Bings can be lovely in the sunshine.

Probably best to do it on spring or autumn sunny days when you don't want to risk the mud going off track or are warming up for something else.
Glad I did it though.
Oh and the last 500m is closed at the moment as they are relaying it in very fancy paving beside a new waterside development.
