Is this the long distance trek in Norway that you have been looking for?
Well, in order to find out, you will have to continue reading...
In order to make this post fairly short I will sum up what we did each day:
1) Train from Oslo to Haugastøl. Hike to Lordehytta. A hunting cabin where you can stay for free.
2) Day hike to the top, Folarskardsnuten. Stayed at the cabin. You can fish at the lakes bellow with a permit.
3) Hiked from the cabin to a lake along the way. Stayed by the emergency shelter. Swam along the way.
4) Hiked from the lake to Østerbø cabin. Paid to stay at the cabin. We passed Geiteryggshytta along the way.
5) Hiked from the cabin and into Aurlandsdalen, which some say is the most beautiful valley in Norway. Used a tent.
6) Hiked further into the valley and camped again, by Sinjarheim, an old farm. Day hike in the area. Berries.
7) Hiked over to the other side and down to Vassbygdi. Checked out a cave system at Teigen. Buss to Flåm.
You could start the trip at Finse (train from Oslo) and hike to Geiteryggshytta. The trek would be 3 days then and about 55 km long. We took our time in order to explore Hallingskarvet and Aurlandsdalen.
Feel free to check out my video from our trek, and let me know if you have any questions.
