What is the Machame trek like?
Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa, and the highest freestanding mountain in the world. At an elevation of 5895 meteres above sea level the air is thin and the views great. What can you expect from this trek?
1. Great views along the way
2. Many trekkers
3. High altitude
Yes, high altitude, duh. Well, the Machame route offers you quite a good acclimatization profile. If you have the money then go for 7 days on the mountain instead of 6. And if you want even better acclimatization, do 8 days with the Lemosho route, as it connects with Machame after a few days. And when it comes to high altitude, let me tell you about the summit night. It is long and hard, and this will always be the case regardless of the route you pick.
