Read other users walk reports for the long distance trails - and add your own.

NB. This board is for reports on multi-day long distance routes - reports on simply long walks should be added to the standard boards.
Warning Please note that hillwalking when there is snow lying requires an ice-axe, crampons and the knowledge, experience and skill to use them correctly. Summer routes may not be viable or appropriate in winter. See winter information on our skills and safety pages for more information.

The Mt. Kenya trek is not as popular as the Kilimanjaro trek, so why should you pick it instead of Kilimanjaro?

Well, first of all, you should not pick one of them, you should do both. But if you can only do one of them, these would be some reasons why you should pick Mt. Kenya.

1) It is much cheaper
2) It is a very beautiful trek in many ways
3) The summit is a real peak, where you do some easy scrambling.
4) The summit night is not long, boring and brutal, as is the case with Kilimanjaro
5) Lower altitude, and less of a chance of suffering from altitude sickness
6) You can stay in huts along the way, or you can tent, up to you
7) The weather is usually favorable compared to Kilimanjaro
8) Fewer people

Feel free to check out my video from when I did the Mt. Kenya trek to see what it is like :)
