Introduction
The East Suffolk Line is a railway linking Ipswich and Lowestoft. It gives walkers the opportunity to walk through some of Suffolk's best countryside without using a car. The stations along the line provide good starting and finishing points from which the surrounding countryside can be explored, largely away from traffic.
Over 20 routes have been devised of varying lengths, eleven of which can be joined up to make a long distance trail of over 70 miles. Some of the routes also cover a significant amount of the 93 mile Angles Way.
On Mondays to Saturdays most trains on the East Suffolk line operate to and from London Liverpool Street. A reduced service operates on Sundays.

This walk follows a very pleasant 9 mile section of the Angles Way, and then finishes using a short section of the Easterlings Walk (ESRW 22.) which could be followed in full if one so wished. Both Beccles and Lowestoft are well served by public transport from Norwich. Refreshment possibilities at both ends, but nothing in the middle.

The walk, which starts in Beccles, Suffolk and then largely follows the Norfolk/Suffolk boundary on the Norfolk side of the river and, generally, the flat, raised flood defences make for good walking as they are well maintained. At Oulton Broad the walk returns to the Suffolk side of the river to finish at either Lowestoft Station (train or bus, depending on which mode of transport you wish to use to return home.)
