Southwold to Dunwich via the Sandlings Walk. A very pleasant hour in The Ship, with its open log fire and an excellent selection of local cask ales, before returning to Southwold following the Suffolk Coast Path. An excellent day's walking accompanied by Nigel Pollard.

End of a superb day! The Water towers by the car park at Southwold.

Full details, route and photographs in my Suffolk Coast Path 2 and Sandlings Walk 1 reports respectively (done but not yet submitted. I'll do this when each section has a few more miles to it.)

Length: 15.4 miles 24.8 km Ascent: +122m -122m Naismith: 5h 10m

Probably much nearer to 16.5 miles approx. However, the timings are about right. We left the cafe in Southwold at about 08.30, reached the Ship Inn by 13.00, left at 14.00 and were back at the car by 16.30. My walking partner and I are well into "Last of the Summer Wine" territory and were in no hurry (even less so when it came to leaving "The Ship"!) younger legs would do it in much less. An excellent walk - I'd thoroughly recommend it.
