This was left no more than10m from the main path on the right-hand side about halfway up Goatfell (around the rocky section before the incline/scramble) and was placed between two rocks - I made sure it wasn't completely hidden from view.

My flatmate and I searched for around two hours before giving up on Saturday, I camped an extra night and searched again on Sunday morning and it was nowhere to be seen.

It doesn't seem likely someone would have stolen it when there was such a small window of opportunity, and the fact it was both busy and a roasting hot day but the same time it feels like we searched everywhere possible and found nothing.

The bag is a 45l red eurohike pathfinder ii

I'm heading back home next weekend and will be climbing Goatfell on the Saturday. If you can send or post an image with roughly where on the path you think you may have left it, then i'll have a good look for it for you when i'm there.

Routes often look different approaching from above, so you could easily have been looking in the wrong place. Our 3 back packs had a wild camp on Tryfan for a week all to themselves for that reason before being located

Chris - it was about halfway up the route before the incline to the top, just after the big flat slabs of rock. We searched everywhere on the right hand side (right side going up, left-side if you are coming down) and couldn't see anything which makes me think we could be searching the wrong area.

Sgurr - I think you could be right, it seems unlikely that it was stolen within such a short space of time so I'm hoping it's still somewhere, sitting slightly out of view between two rocks.

Hey mate, I had a look for your rucksack but couldn't find it. I tried from the cairn marking the turn off for Meall Breac and the Corrie route, following an older more exposed path slightly north of the main path. The hill was mobbed with runners and walkers so I didn't have as much time to have a hunt for it as I would have liked and visibility was awful which didn't help.

You should contact the Arran MRT on facebook and let them know you left it there as one of them is bound to be up there again this week and may be able to look for it for you. Good luck!
