Ospreyful weekend

Ospreyful weekend

Round trip which took in Assynt, Littleferry and home via Kincraig afforded three osprey sightings:
1. perched on a tree branch - I was driving from west to east;
2. hovering over a raft of eider at Littleferry, where the sea meets Loch Fleet - no camera on me
3. female on nest at Kincraig - this time with camera:

Given recent events in wales ... "Please avoid giving out the locations of nest sites for rare birds.". I hope you were vague in your locations?

Whilst agreeing with the warning at the top of the forum many osprey nest locations and viewing opportunities are positively promoted on their websites by the RSPB and various Wildlife Trusts.

Indeed - and on many Scottish lochs now they are as common as buzzards. A real success story.

Wasn't that an awful story, prog99. These latter two osprey sites are very well known, but the first one isn't, so yes I've kept that vague.
I'm also extremely vague about where I see hen harriers. But then I also don't shoot, fish, hunt or consume animals, so you're preaching to the converted here, don't worry!
