I saw a fairly large eagle-like bird in the Alps yesterday but unfortunately this is the best photo I could manage:
Any ideas what it is? My best guess is a golden eagle, but I've not seen one with such distinctive white markings.
Record your sightings of wildlife and birds on this board - even better if you managed to capture a photo.

Please avoid giving out the locations of nest sites for rare birds.

Juvenile Golden Eagles have white patches on tail and wings though not uniform on all birds.
Have a look at this https://birdsoftheworld.org/bow/species/goleag/cur/appearance there's a video down the page of a juvenile on migration showing white wing patches. Although this is from USA may also apply to European variety.
There are other eagle species in Europe.
