Saw my first wheatear on its way south a couple of days ago in east London.
They are common birds but IMO very elegant and it is always good to see them passing through in either direction.
Weather will affect migration but over the last four or five years the first ones I have seen here at this time of year have all been within about four days of the middle of August.
