Lovely walk up Creag Mac Ranaich above Lochearnhead today, and lots of interesting wildlife, including:
The frogs were just two out of hundreds we saw in and around the lochans near the summit. However, that was nothing compared to yesterday, when we encountered
thousands of toads (no exaggeration) and hundreds of frogs on the Cateran Way.
The last two miles of that walk took about two hours as we were having to place every step carefully! Also a hare which almost ran straight into us, our first lizards of the year, and another jay.
Our last walk before that was up Auchnafree Hill, with a whole load of red deer, a few mountain hare and yet another jay.
I do like this time of year.
