I was coming down Derry Cairngorm on Saturday just passed and came across this bird who didn't budge or fly away. Anybody know what it is?

If it had a very piecing piping call (almost like a mobile phone) it may have been a Golden Plover.

I'd say Dotteral as well http://www.rspb.org.uk/wildlife/birdguide/name/d/dotterel/index.aspx

Well spotted, I haven't seen one, yet, this year!

came across this bird who didn't budge or fly away.

The Gaelic name for the Dotterel (an t-amadan mointeach - hope that is right!) means the "Moss Fool" because of this.

Cheers for the info guys! Much appreciated!

Only noticed it as there were 2 of them, one flew away up the hill which got my attention. Then I turned back round and there it was, not budging off their turf!
