The cat was no more, had ceased to be, was bereft of life, it rests in peace. This was an ex-lynx.

Might pay to be aware of adders which are all black - or very dark grey. They get a mention somewhere else on the site I think. I witnessed two sunbathing next to the road on Arran. No sign of the zig-zag pattern which would be the usual identifier.

If you see a snake in Scotland it is most likely an Adder, there have been a few sightings of Grass snakes in the borders, but all highland snakes are Adders.
