Heavy showers everywhere on skye, but not at rubha hunish I kept seeing them pass over the quiraing. Midgies bad though. 4 minke whales - is it a school or a pod, but they were together, breaching right out of the water. also 2 seperate schools of porpoise, 1 of them right underneath the cliffs. The water was so clear you could see them swimming under the water. Yesterday there was a a basking shark in Scorr bay

Rubha hunish 15/07

We were down at Rubha Hunish yesterday - in glorious hot sunshine - where has it gone now?

There was briefy a minke whale and one dolphin off the end of the point when we arrived, but they soon disappeared. There's only one pair of shags still with chicks in the nest too - see photo - all others have now fledged..

Best sighting though was a Basking Shark - really quite close in though not close enough for our camera. The clear conditions meant you could see the whole massive shape under the water, rather than just the fins up above.
