Does anyone have any information about whales and dolpins being washed up a lot this year and what could be causing it?

I'm sometimes sea kayaking around Knoydart, South Skye area and have seen one Minke whale carcass and have heard of others further north. Did see a basking shark the other day and close up they are pretty scarily huge - can't say my paddling technique was perfect as I tried to put some distance between it and me. Are there any reports of kayaks being capsized by them or other sea mammals?
