There are more red kites down where you live than in Scotland now as I am sure they are still persecuted here. Lovely gold finch: we spotted some here and put out their feeder, first time for a while.

Thanks. There's a pair of Red Kites whose territory seems to include my garden. Never managed to get them both in the same shot. With luck they may have bred and I'll see the young on the wing later in the year. There is a largish population around here. Goldfinches are probably the most common bird at my feeders, large groups in the winter. There were three on the Cirsium the other day but no chance of a photo. They love sunflower seed kernels.

Lovely birds Goldfinches. There are a fair few fluttering around the trees at my work, keep meaning to bring my camera in.

Red kites to me seem very numerous down D&G, Perthshire and up and around the Black Isle. Can't say I've seen many elsewhere.
