Thanks very much for your article Ben. I was unaware of the Sand Lizard colony on Coll.

I know that there are not supposed to be any in mainland Scotland, but I wondered if any other WHer suspected their presence in upper Glen Nevis, or elsewhere.

It is over twenty years since I saw what I thought was one - and I may well have been mistaken - just fishing.

Hi Caberfeidh, thanks very much for the link.

I was not clear enough that I was asking specifically about Sand Lizards. I have seen Common Lizards in Scotland, most recently on Beinn Bhrotain.

The lizard I saw in Glen Nevis many years ago raised my suspicions because of its size and the yellow underneath I caught sight of. Most probably only wishful thinking, but I wondered whether anybody else had suspicions.

They're so lightning-fast I don't know how anyone can get a photo or even recognise which type they are! I've seen a lot of fast reptiles in Galloway, the north-west highlands near Diabeag and high up in the Cairngorms near the Glen Shee ski area but I don't know which species they were.
