Spotted this ruthless looking beast hiding in the granite atop Broad Cairn yesterday.
It was very large - almost as big as my little finger, and looked for all the world like one of those strange wasps from south east Asia. Anyone have a clue what it is?

Great Wood Wasp (Urocerus gigas). Quite harmless.
