Hi everyone,

I went a few weeks back to Baron's haugh and I saw this bird, could anyone confirm if this is a fieldfare ?

It was wee while ago, and the light was not very good, so I did not saw it better than what is on the picture.

I am just hoping someone with more experience can confirm the identification,

Thanks,
Corentin

Hard to tell from the photo, as none of the normal distinguishing features can be seen. There are a lot of Fieldfare and Redwing at the Haugh at present. Fieldfare are larger - about the size of a Mistle Thrush.

Sorry for the picture-quality, I know that it is not great.

Anyway, thank you for your hindsight. I guess we will never be sure of the exact species, but from memory it was thrush-sized.

Its hard to be 100% but I would go 99% with Fieldfare due to the more contrasting breast colour to the underparts. I have lightened it a bit below so you can see it :D

Thanks a lot Johnoneil ! Indeed, it is a bit clearer with more light.

Small flock on my amble yesterday. Not as clear as I would like as at max range of my 300mm lens.

One a little closer

And some very industrious moles :D

Not the best photo for an ID! Although I would guess a field fare. It's definitely not a LBJ.
Damn! Just seen the other post saying FF!
Agreed and I would say 99 99% sure. Give it a tick
