Thanks, pied wagtail makes sense - there were so many of them around there!

This might be a long shot (well, it was literally was a long shot), but can anyone identify the bird in the grainy photos below? Again, this was in the Pentlands.

Looks like a skylark to me. I've seen plenty of them in the Pentlands before.

Tree Pipit or Meadow Pipit. Hard to tell. Forked tail. A skylark has a edge to the tail.
