Well, with lockdown in the middle of winter being somewhat less lovely, I thought I'd revisit some of the my wildlife photos taken since the end of the first lock down. Most were some time ago now, but I'm still getting out every day, just not seeing as much at this time of year!
Mallard duckling, June
Red kite, June
White crab spider munching on a ringlet butterfly, July
Young roe deer, July
Chalk Hill Blue, August
Barn Owl, October
Starlings, October
Big momma. Common Toad, October
Young grey heron, October. Let me stand very close, then...
...off he went with dinner! Only went about 20 feet, and swallowed the poor roach. Whilst I was looking at the photos, I turned round, to find he'd come back and was about 6 feet behind me.
Buzzard, November
Gadwall, November
A scene from Snow White, or Bambi or something, November
This is Rodrigo, one of the two male roe deer I see by the water meadows of the River Wey.
Now something I never knew about kingfishers until this year. They can hover.
Male kingfisher, November
A more usual hoverer. Female Kestrel, December
The same bird, a week later
Finally, for almost the first time in 12 years trying, a kingfisher let me drift right past him in the canoe.
Of course, he didn't hang around for long!
January is proving a little difficult, and the wildlife is keeping its distance, but there are already the first signs of spring. It can't come soon enough for me.
