Bit of Tennessee here, after a nice 11 mile walk up to a view point at 4900ft yesterday. About 2-3 inches of snow had dumped on the Smoky Mountains and I had this spot all to myself.

Meall nan Tarmachan today from just below the 923m point. I didn't make it to the summit after a couple of hairy moments which included having to self arrest and then the snow deciding to give me a helping hand getting moving  I took those two moments as a sign that the hill had defeated me (despite being only 30m from the top) so I shall return another day.

I was up the Ben on New Year's Day took a few photos coming down, which I made into a panorama.
I hasten to add no Photoshop or other editing package was used, just Hugin to make the panorama. The light really was like this.

We were indeed. The section of the Cleveland way from Hasty bank to Cringle Moor is one of my faves and only 45 mins from home.

superb afternoon walk on our favourite hill today - got to use my winter boots in snow hurrah! there was a thin layer of mist in the Tees Valley with the sun giving it a fascinating glow.

and a thin layer of brown over the Middlesbrough skyline, you don't often see that, must be the way the air is layered today.

Viewing Hill in upper Teesdale. Another Hewitt bagged in my North Pennines campaign. Freezing cold days have their advantages as they turn the boggy areas found around here rock solid making for easy walking

I've waited several years to get a chance to visit the wonderful Roseberry Topping on a day like this.
