A different angle on the same lake. In this photo it looks bigger than the partly hidden one above and to the left of it, but in fact it is smaller.

That’s right. It’s Llyn y Gafr in the first photo; both tarns are visible in the second picture.

Hopefully this will be a bit more of a challenge than those I've posed so far... (but probably not... )

Obviously no more difficult than all the others I've posed  .

It is indeed!

Cracking hills around here, BTW, no?

Totally agree - it's one of my favourite areas anywhere. Probably a bit biased, as Cnicht was the first mountain I climbed as a boy.

Where is this?

No guesses yet, so a clue: the hill in the background shares a name with a couple of other prominent hills, one of which is one of the higher (3,000ft +) peaks in Wales.

Based mostly on your clue and a bit of OS Map and aeriel photo work, Y Garn, at the north end of the Nantlle hills

Spot on - we are on the alternative (and more interesting) route straight up from the Drws-y-Coed pass.

Over to you!

Clue: we are on a fairly solitary hill, surrounded by deep valleys on three sides. The ridge rising from this lake to the summit gives a very fine ascent route, with some mild scrambling.
