- the stream is called Ease Gill. This exact location is referred to by Wainwright as Cow Holes although that is not on the OS map I have. There is another, bigger ravine downstream, named on the map ( and by Wainwright) as Easegill Kirk. The pupils at Cowan Bridge were of course the four eldest Bronte sisters.
