I reckon its gritstone rather than granite (my first puzzle).

Wheel stones? (Coach and Horses stones), Derwent moors?

Yes, it's gritstone (I think). And the pic is indeed the Wheel Stones!

I have to say, I'm quite impressed: it's one hell of a portage up from Ladybower Res!!!

I knew there were some piles up along the Derwent Edges (most of my early walking was in the area). I will admit to using google to work out which piles these were!

I have pretty much carried a bike up to there from the res, but not yet portaged a canoe. Yet.
