No, it's not Grisedale Pike. Getting colder!

It's a bit like Starling Dodd, but that's not closer to Whiteside than to Haycock. I have a feeling this is going to turn into some kind of mathematical mapping exercise!

That's right! Starling Dodd from Hen Comb

(Sorry my reply to Guinessman's first suggestion was confusing. I meant it was closer than Dale Head, not Haycock)

Oh, I see :) Starling Dodd is one of those hills I find more or less unmistakeable in any view, so I thought if it hadn't been claimed straight away I must be wrong for once!

Where is this guardian beast?

Got to be Bempton Cliffs surely, not that I've seen the sculpture, but with the Flamborough cliffs in the distance....

That's it - I did think about cropping out the lighthouses and saving them for a clue, but sometimes things that seem obvious to me are obscure to others, and vice versa!

It was actually the combination of white cliffs and puffins, in England, which gave it away to me. Hadn't spotted the lighthouses

Back in a little while with something...

Clue time, as I'm off up north from Thursday.

The objects in the foreground are very much relevant to identifying the location.

Behind me is a large canal. The things in the foreground would once have floated on it, or on the river below, but now form an unusual defence against the force of water.

That's the spot!

Purton Ship Graveyard, where some hulks were deliberately allowed to sink into the silt to stabilise the bank between the Severn and the Gloucs & Sharpness Canal.

Sorry for the delay. I've been back in Sweden.

Here is a view that you may have seen before, but where are the two ladies (my mum who was 75 in that pic, and my wife) viewing it from?
