Thanks!

What is the shape looming out of the middle distance?

Looks a bit like Dollywaggon Pike from Grisedale Tarn

The whiteout obscures the fact that both tarn and top are much smaller than that! This isn't a Wainwright, but it is near one (which is actually lower than the pictured top).

Just a random guess but it reminds me of the hummocky tops between Seathwaite Fell and Sprinkling Tarn?

No sorry, again this is a little less grand than that.

It's a short walk from a youth hostel and, if you're a stickler for accuracy, is 3.7km from a famous Wainwright to the west. The nearest Wainwright is less than a kilometre away.

No. There was a clue hidden in my last post, but here's another: within one kilometre lies a metallic Wainwright - 4km away is another.

Swinescar Pike, near Silver How and Steel Fell. Haven't got the map out so no name for the tarn. Probably wrong as usual.

My 50k map has no Swinescar Pike on it, which is a shame as it's a great name, but the grid ref is almost exactly the same as for Lang How, which is what's in the photo, so I'm more than happy to give it to you!

Very generous. The 1:25 gives them both, Swinescar Pike is a little to the left from your photo, but close.

where is this?

Yes, too easy. Should have used an obscure southern one. Your go.

Here's a southern one, but not very obscure...
