No, that was a decent challenge. But there were still plenty of clues - non-tidal shoreline, granite-type rocks and lots of heather all point to the Cairngorms, and there aren't too many candidates of that size.....


It just triggered a memory from a couple of years back, I'm sure I took a breather just around there on the walk-in, so that view felt familiar. Was up that way at the weekend just gone, but while most of my friends opted for Lochnagar, I went South. It wouldn't have looked like that on Saturday!

Sandy beach and no hills in the distance meant I looked at OS map of Inverpolly lochs.

I think that we are in Loch Veyatie approaching the entrance to Loch a Mhadail somewhere around grid 160145.
