Is this Dun Vallerain and the nearby Loch Sheanta? But I have no idea of the connection.

It is. No connection other than their close proximity and, tenuously, if the former gave you the collywobbles you could seek comfort at the sacred spring and water of the latter.

(one of my near impossibles just to please another of our contributors) :D

Your go.

Thanks Charles, the Q clue helped, I think there have been a lot more impossible ones over the years, maybe including this:

LSH - a lonely place to stop.

I had better get the clues started on this one:

LSH- a lonely place to stop, and mainly there for the water.

I suppose it's not Loch Shin House, the wee house that is?

Hi Charles, your supposition is correct, it's not Loch Shin House.

Next clue: a lane runs nearby but there is no road for miles

Is that 'lane' as in Galloway-speak for a river running between two lochs?

Well spotted Caberfeidh, you've got to the right area.

This should be the last clue needed: 'The Paddy' ran through here in the past.

That's the place, Charles, well done. Over to you, but I have plenty more obscure railway trivia, if I get the chance.....
