No, closer to fantasy than stones.

Sorry, no. Sea creatures are involved but on mainland Scotland. Rather uncannily there are links to the previous 4 questions or maybe I am making tortuous connections. The mystery is more of a media thing, everyone locally knows the answer.

No not that either. The SS are solid and visible but what they depict is more of a humerous fantasy and they are of this decade.

I mentioned links to the previous 4 questions.
Firstly Robbie Burns visited S (not much of a clue as he got around a lot of places)
Secondly there is a link to the RCS question in that SS was also subject to recent media attention ( albeit maybe only in Scotland), there is also an Administrative link.
Thirdly SS features (very definitely) a non-Stevenson lighthouse and Robert Stevenson also has a significant link to S.
Finally there is a similarity to Burghead.

I have just found out that no-one on this forum watches The One Show (neither do I). SS featured on it earlier this week.

The more information you provide on this the more baffled I become.

I thought this was going to be too easy for you all.

I know them as the SS and most local folk would refer to them that way. They have acquired a few new names in the media. The mystery part of the question is really a media thing, locally most people know who is responsible for them. All the publicity is good for the small tourist town of S which has aready has a number of attractions that bring people there; namely, award winning icecream shops, an award winning fish 'n' chip shop and an infamous snack to name but a few. There are at least another 3 major reasons why people visit but I think I have given you too much information now! NB The One Show didn't really point out the fantasy element of the SS. Personally, I think they are great.

Yes! Not so hard, over to you Charles. I did not mention that the link to Burghead was the tarball fire event as this would have given it away earlier. The sculptures feature a dragon viking ship, fag-smoking fish catching men, crabs hauling in creels plus a lighthouse also inhabited by fish keepers

You must. There is also a lovely walk from the harbour (Robert Stevenson involved in the restructuring of the harbour) to Dunnottar Castle or for a bit more of a stretch, from Garron Point (the Highland Boundary Fault) to Dunnottar but watch out for the tempting ice cream and chips on the way.

Knew nothing of them. Interesting indeed.

Not wholly unrelated, TL yielded the TH and TPC.

I may be being a bit challenging here. To help, the items are ancient, were possibly votive offerings and are of a distinctive style named from its Continental origins, of which there are several phases.
