Perhaps we should start a new one, it's well in excess of the suggested 100 pp.

Maybe when you win this one Charles. I have already exhausted the temples and the theatres.....I think.

Wouldn't come amiss....tomorrow? Give the others a chance to stew over it today.

OK, clue #1. RB is near E, sounds a bit fishy to me!

This is not a guess - just a random thought about the RB.

Others who know Scottish history better than me might want to consider in their guesses.

In medieval times, the Bishop Rae Bridge (“Rae” sounds a bit fishy?...) into Glasgow used to have a bell, rung by the leper colony. One story is that the name Gorbals comes from this “gory bell”.

I have no idea about the other initials!

Tim

I went out with a girl who lived in the Gorbals, it was sometimes an interesting walk from Bridge St underground station!

It's the E that sounds fishy by the way.

Clue #3 LA was also (previously) known as JF and was even once referenced in the writings of TC.

Lady's Tower was built in Ruby Bay for Lady (Janet) Anstruther.

Correct! She apparently liked a skinny dip in the bay and someone would be sent into nearby Elie ringing a bell to tell the locals to stay away.

Jenny Faa (Janet Fall) was reputedly originally of Gypsy stock, her beauty was noted by Thomas Carlyle.

As it happens I was in Elie yesterday, hence the inspiration.
