Can you see spots before your eyes?

Can you see spots before your eyes?

https://photographylife.com/red-dot-flare-issue

Found this discussion of the problem of geometric flare or reflection patterns that seems wider spread than I had realised. Had a slight problem with my Nikon Coolpix and was sure the more expensive Sony HX90 would bring that to an end but no such luck; a lot worse and a lot more frequent.
Anyone else had pink or red dots appearing before their eyes?

That's a bummer, Litljortindan. Did you go back to the Coolpix?

I am persisting with the Sony HX90. It is fine in the minutes at and before sunrise or at and after after sunset and that is probably the best light anyway. Apart from that it is a matter of discarding more photos than I had to in the past. However, the zoom and video recording are quite good so it definitely has its plus points. Still looking to get a replacement though.

An SLR gives you the choice of fitting a hood to reduce flare and spots, but if you just want to carry a campact, lightweight camera, you'll have to start wearing a sombrero.
