Forgot about this thread! Time for some more views.

Local Hero was on the telly the other day, reminding me that the view from that coastline between Arisaig and Morar is simply perfection.

I thought Local Hero was somewhere on the north-east coast!

The village was (Pennan), the beach was at Camusdaroch just down from Morar. More of a walk from the pub to Ben's hut than they let on!

Speaking of Pennan...

I must admit I never appreciated the local panoramas from the hills above Beauly. Now this is the only high ground we're allowed to visit and I'm so glad I have this view at hand...

The closest I get to a "view" at the moment; the local golf course (which is very helpfully allowing people to wander about on, not just on the 2 rights of way, just asking us to respect staying off the greens).

Mal Grey wrote:Thought it would be nice to have a place full of beautiful views. As far as I'm concerned, anything vaguely hill, coastal or generally outdoors is fine by me, but obviously Highland views ought to be the core. Variety is, though, the spice of life!

I reserve the right to post more than one favourite later when I change my mind! :D

I'll start with one from my favourite part of the world, Inverpolly. There are dozens of amazing views here, but on our canoe crossing of the area last Easter, we found this little hill right in the middle, surrounded by those magical hills, a spot few walkers will get to. I'm already cheating by having two photos, just to try to demonstrate how good a spot this was!

Those are good views. There's something special, by definition I suppose, in getting a unique or unusual view and/or making some unusual effort to get it.
I don't know if it's an age thing but it is a happy coincidence for me that I've started to appreciate this sort of landscape more and more; so not necessarily on one of those (in this case) iselbergs but with a view of them. Might just be that I don't like the scrambling so much these days and have adapted.

As a once in a blue moon view, I've never forgotten this one taken in May 2014 looking west from the A82 across Rannoch Moor to the Black Mounth hills.

A fine sight in itself just to see some snowy tops reflected in the water, definitely one of the favourite view ingredients for me. You don't always get such a mirror like effect either.

I assume that was Northern Norway? I worked on the Isle of Raasay in my yoof and always admired the view of Ben Tianavaig from the ferry, and I loved the way the headlands faded into the distance on the Sound of Raasay. As for food with a view, how about some lovely fresh langoustines at Lochinver?

Wow, some amazing images. Interested in where some of the Norwegian ones are; Lofoten and Lyngen seem likely candidates, and I think I also see Romsdal/Troll Wall.

Yes, mostly north Norway.
Need to get over to Raasay again some time.
