Yes. The first CS is the crooked stile, or the boundary between England and Scotland. The second CS is the Crooked Sixpence. Devaluation of the currency which the Scots had to share had made the silver in the coins thinner and it tended to bend. The CM was the Crooked Man or Alexander Leslie who the Scots suspected of stitching up a deal with England that was not in their favour. Thank goodness I didn't have to introduce the CC. I'm not sure what the Crooked Cat was in reality or the Crooked Mouse, but the house they all lived in together(Crooked) was Britain. Husband had been writing a paper and was sitting in his chair for so long he complained he looked like The Crooked Man when he emerged. Thought it must have an interesting origin, and recycled it for the quiz

Could this be Auntie's Skirts and Happy Thought, two of the poems in 'A Child's Garden of Verses' by Robert Louis Stevenson?
If it is, the picture that gave it away was the map of Samoa. Some of the other pictures are a bit baffling though!
