Not the answer! - But regardless of musical preferences, I think a bagpipe reveille would be quite a wake up call...

especially if performed by Korn...

Doesn't bear thinking about! Same goes for a kilt made from curtain material! Never heard of or heard that band, thankfully!

CS, an expert in S, was responsible for both the BTC and the BWH

Is it Charlotte Stopes, an expert in Shakespeare? I am afraifd I can't find a BTC or a BWH, so it probably isn't....BWH could be British Women in History (though not in her bibliography?)

Nope, not that.

You could say that CS's life illustrates the transition from an 'older' society (represented by the BWH) to a 'modern' society (represented by the BTC)

B is now part of E. The little-known BTC was a precursor of something big (in economic terms) in nearby P.

CS's involvement in the BWH (also known as the RWH) came very early in life, and for many people the outcome was terrible

Christian Shaw and the Bargarran Witch Hunt, who later founded the Bargarran Thread Company? - the origin of Paisley’s linen thread spinning industry?

Correct
NB for completeness the other clues I provided were: Christian Shaw was an expert in Spinning, and Bargarran is now part of Erskine

Your go!

Thanks!

Wikipedia did the work, but they don't want to set the next clue

I suspected from the beginning that P was Paisley, given its industrial past, but couldn't find anything that fitted on thread spinning.

Then I was drawn into a interesting blind alley regarding Shanks and his Barrhead Tubal Works, part of the noble ancestry of Armitage Shanks.

I knew about the witch hunt (it was the last large witch hunt in the whole of Europe) but I didn't know the details. Like the Pendle witch trial in England, credence was given to a child's evidence, which would not have been permitted in any other kind of trial.

GC was honoured over FR

Just catching up on this as was off grid earlier this week and otherwise distracted later. Really surprised that it hasn't been solved.
