If I am right, I think Rohan got it really, by locating Balquhidder (my computer keeps trying to change that to Baluchistan).

Also I am hoping to do a long walk in the Black Mountains tomorrow so won’t be able to post on WH.

So rohan should be the winner!

Tim

You are correct, yet as Rohan found only the secondary objective which lead to the location of the primary, but admitted to not being able to find the primary, which you did, then you have answered the question and it is now your go. QED 😁

(I used to get told off for writing sentences like that in my papers 😽)

It’s a fair cop.

(I still get told off for writing sentences like that)

Ok here’s a quick one. RL, 72, CG. What’s the connection?

Got back from my walk in Wales now. I was bowled over by the scenery (and the beer)

Clue - a spot I know very well was the location for this. It is not in Scotland, but at the heart of England, near a spa and its Pump Rooms....

Extra clue: CG refers to something recent, well known (at least one-third of the world's population are possibly aware of it), and featuring some fine Scottish performances.

I have been very green on this and the poser almost bowled me over. This is Rosemary Lenton winning gold (with Pauline Wilson) at the age of 72 in Lawn Bowls at the Commonwealth Games. For few days she also held the record for the oldest gold medal winner ( at the CG) until George Miller aged 75 also won gold in the bowls. All represented Scotland. I can't believe I didn't catch on to this immediately as I remember thinking " That will be a good one for "Give us a "P" please - Scotland" at the time of their successes

Thanks Tim,
This is definitely much further back in history but was recently mentioned through this website. U F (or C of F) became known as M C after a dreadful event.

If your visit to MC overwhelms you, you may want to head to nearby CC for some contemplation.

Maybe a smokescreen is obscuring the answer.

Can't resist a Rupert-style clue on the syllables of this one, as per https://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/Forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=114403

"Our first is held against its will
Our second spreads across the hills
Our thirds are different, don't you know
One is high, the other low."

Extra clue - residents of Edinburgh, Caithness and Orkney would have an advantage in guessing this.

Just spent far to long posting a reply on Sgurr's TR that you linked to your clue. No further forward here though Edinburgh and Caithness together make me think of glass but I'm pretty certain it's nothing to do with that.
