I note your guesses:
- Glengavel, not a logo or badge but beginning to get warm
- Sgurr, one of your Os is correct
In celebration of a great day on Cul Mor today (that's not a clue) here is a bonus clue:
There is a link between this puzzle and my previous one

No, no Stewarts here. In fact one of the people in the puzzle could be said to have been anti-Stewart

The FS/O, CC/RS, MS/O and NS/M pairings are made of a different, more advanced substance than the four LI/C pairings

Flora Stevenson is associated with Osprey on the Royal Bank of Scotland £50 note, Catherine Cranston is associated with Red Squirrels on the £20 note, Mary Somerville is associated with Otters on the £10 note, Nan Shepherd is associated with Mackerel on the £5 note, and Lord Ilay is associated with six Castles on the old Royal Bank of Scotland notes?

(And, in each case the person appears on the opposite side of the note from the creature or castle?)

Correct!

...with the minor correction that only four of the older six Lord Ilay paper notes are still officially in circulation (hence my correction of the puzzle from six to four Cs): £1 (Edinburgh Castle on the back), £20 (Brodick Castle), £50 (Inverness Caste), and £100 (Balmoral Castle). The newer banknotes featuring the four women you listed on the front and various animals on the back are made of polymer, which have better security features.
Those with an interest in banknotes can get all the information here: https://www.acbi.org.uk/banknotes/royal-bank-of-scotland.html
The link to my previous puzzle alluded to in an earlier clue was of course the Royal Bank of Scotland, which rose from the ashes of the Darien Scheme...

Your go!

The Scottish Cup was neither Scottish nor Silver? On research, this is wrong for the Football cup, but may be right for another one?????????

Ingenious idea! - but it is not sports-related.

This puzzle is about an antipathy to a certain well known character - so well known, that If I gave the initials, it would be ludicrously easy!

But I can give on extra clue - the antipathy was shared by DN, G and others.

Sean Connery was not Sean - he was Thomas. He was certainly Scottish, so I don't know what the other S is. He had a tattoo (inscribed?) on his arm, Scotland Forever.

His most famous character James Bond was certainly not popular with Dr No and Goldfinger.

Went to dump some books in my shop late at night once and saw a commotion. An elderly gent was being mobbed by what looked like 10-12 girl students. On closer inspection, it turned out to be SC. That was prior to mobile phones : after that you could summon 100 people in five minutes.

There is a biography: “Sean Connery: neither Shaken nor Stirred”.

It refers to SC saying he hated his James Bond character and “wanted to kill him”. An antipathy he shared with Dr No et al.

Sgurr came up with the exact words, but I think Glengavel got this one!
