Did some obscure bakery known only to you come up with the Aberdeen Buttery? Or are there now NO correct words?

You make me laugh, thanks! it is not an obscure bakery although the rowie's origins could be said to have something in common with SM and you are correct, there is still only one correct word.

Not that I'm a football fan, but is it something to do with football? SM - St Mirren?.....

One of the reasons I love hillwalking is that it is a largely football-free zone so I would try a different tack.

I seem to have left Sgurr and the rest of you high and dry, can nobody come up with any suggestions?

I think you've given a hint that it's a walking/climbing question. SM was the first climber to use a piece of equipment known as an AB? But I think the one correct word so far is Aberdeen, and I'm not au fait with climbing terms.

A copper-bottomed answer. I was hoping my brother would send me a photo of the model of the Scottish Maid he has finished before you solved it but he hasn't. Scottish Maid was built at Hall and Co shipyard in Aberdeen and the first schooner to have a raked stem orr what became known as an Aberdeen Bow which was a distinctive feature of the clipper sailing vessels and helped to make the Scottish Maid a speedy ship for her day, 49 hours from Aberdeen to London.
NB I resisted the temptation to say that perhaps you, Sgurr, were 3 sheets to the wind on GGW and therefore unable to answer the question.
Over to you

The CGGW is still almost untasted. We are hoping that relatives will eventually be able to come and help us out with it, tho' the teetotal one is the only who has been offered a jab so far (21st) Your reply to buttery had me seeking out maritime stuff, but took me a long time to dig out the answer. Then your Glengavel reply was helpful.

Well done!. I thought that would either go quickly or take a long time while people were trying to work out what sacred shrines or towns were represented by H and BN. All yours Glengavel

Ta. It was a toss-up between Clootie Dumpling or Conspicuous Drinking.

What links EM, LL and JK?

Could it be "Scots Makars", or National Poets?
