Can I have a "P" please Bob - Scotland (2nd edition)

Thanks, I succumbed. Hadn't thought of Chariot DRIVE, so I plumped for a generic term which wasn't really correct anyway. :(

You would most likely need to make a voyage to observe the LBO and you would still be looking for what might be described as ephemeral.

Would you be going to the Ladyisle Bird Observatory to observe birds which aren't always there? (Prob not, as it may be Lady Isle)

No, not to do with birds, less transient but not always there.

Is it the Lesser Butterfly Orchid? Seems to be found only in Scotland only in the Western Isles.

Yes it is, well done. Thought it might take longer and avoided my having to work Angels into a clue. Your go.

It does hang on, just, in other areas of the UK but the Western Isles is its stronghold now.

Thanks, orchid came to mind and then it was just a matter of searching, although it was well-hidden.

AP could be relied on to keep an eye on things.

Could it be Alexander Peden who was regarded by other later Covenanters as a prophet, so maybe had the gift of foresight?

No, not him either, and none of the names you have given match the mystery person.

Is it Alan Pinkerton, the Scottish-American detective (born in Glasgow), whose business insignia was a wide open eye?

Well done. He was from Glasgow but moved to Dundee - Dundee, Illinois!

Your go.

A JR was, somewhat surprisingly, a subject tackled by G. BJ would undoubtedly not have been pleased with the outcome.

I don't know what I am talking about, but suppose it is a judicial review tackled by (unknown) G and Boris Johnson would/did not like the outcome.

Nope, nothing to do with Boris Johnson, or judicial reviews.
BJ is probably more correctly rendered as "BJ"
