Glen Trool - Southern Upland Way

Glen Trool - Southern Upland Way

Advisory. Lamachan Hill and Curleywee, Glen Trool. Stage 7.
You can either follow the long distance path - eventually passing the south side of Loch Trool - all the way back to Caldons, or alternatively follow the cycle track which leads to the road on the north side of Loch Trool, before following this to Caldons.

The Southern Upland Way now follows the stone track ,referred to above as the cycle track. It is signposted on the ground and is shown as such on the latest Harveys Superwalker map. The section referred to in the route description as the long distance path has been all but abandoned. It crosses very rough ground and where it joins the track south of Glenhead it is heavily overgrown and was VERY boggy when I attempted it last August.

Thanks for mentioning this - always good to get feedback (there's a link to send us feedback about walk routes directly at the bottom of each walk description, which would be the fastest way to get a response).

We've amended the route for the part of the SUW that has been abandoned. The cycle path doesn't follow the SUW throughout though - it heads round the north side of Loch Trool & meets the road, possibly still a bit faster than the SUW.
