I think it is because they are on your own website, which is not secure (https).
Chrome has changed its settings so that non-secure content isn't shown by default as part of a secure webpage - because it can create security issues for viewers; I suspect this will eventually happen with other browsers too. So you have to open them in another page rather than have mixed secure and non-secure content. You might want to get a security certificate for your website (google letsencrypt) so you can include secure pics; non-secure sites are also getting demoted in search; you'll see your site displays a warning at the moment in Chrome.
