Although the walk and hill are included here, I am surprised that there is no possibility of been able to log it as a climbed hill. Is there a reason 'You have not climbed this hill' tick box on the hill page?

Despite its impressive looks, topographically it's really only a minor top of Meall Gainmheich http://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/sub2000/meall-gainmheich so it doesn't appear in any of the popular hill lists.

Thanks for that - as a newbie to hill walking did not appreciate the topographical aspects. At least I know I have climbed it lol

Cheers

Most of the lists of hills use re-ascent (i.e. the minimum drop between the summit and higher ground) to distinguish what is a separate hill from what isn't (for Corbetts this is 500 feet, for Grahams and sub-2000ers 150 metres). The exceptions are Munros (no rule, just the opinion of Munro and subsequent editors of the Tables), Donalds (a rule based on re-ascent and distance from higher ground) and Wainwrights (the hills in his guidebooks). More details here http://hills-database.co.uk/database_notes.html#defs if you are interested!

Learn something new everyday! :)
So a prominence can qualify as a Corbett top on the side of say, a Munro, and yet be several miles away from a 'real' Corbett. Seems a bit odd? I had heard of Munro tops but they are all part of the main Munro lump.

My favourite is definitely 'Graham Tops of Hewitts' - although I had to look it up to work out where it was :)
