Is it possible to embed a youtube video on here?

For routes you can create a memory map 3d "walkthrough" which gives you an idea of the terrain and height you will be taking for a route. Could be an interesting feature for the site as a whole?

For my Beinn Dorain trip report it would be good to put the route we took in 3d. Brings it to life.

Hi MIlesy

Yes, you can put Youtube embeds on in forum posts. Copy the URL of the actual page with the video on youtube (not the html embed code), and post it between the tags.

There are copyright issues with us putting on vids on from Memory map or anything else from the originators of the data; would it be very different to the Google Earth views since Google updated most of the imagery? However if you mean putting a youtube vid on containing that stuff that is fine as the copyright stuff is up to Youtube.

One idea at the moment is that where you put an OS map track into the route report (by uploading from GPS or using the built in option to draw the route), your post could then have a button that switches between looking at your route on OS map to looking at it in the Virtual Highlands google earth app (so you can walk it etc. in 3D)

Ah I think if you have been using a site for a while and there is something that you hadn't looked for to begin with, you'll probably never notice it.

NOTE: The Youtube BBCODES have now been superceded. To embed a video from a video sharing site into a post, now simply post the web address of the page containing your video and the forum will automatically embed it.

Hi Paul,
I have attempted to add a Youtube video to my last post. I am struggling with the terms used regarding embedding. I copied the URL and pasted it.
Have I done this correctly?

ps sorry about my lack of computer knowledge.
