A new gear review...

A new gear review...

Postby dtaylor5632 » Fri Oct 06, 2017 4:26 pm

Hi folks,

I was wondering if we could have a new gear review on something which isnt exactly "gear".
Its always a minefield when choosing "meal packs" for long trips/multi day hikes.

I dont think it has been done yet but I'd be interested! ;)

Thanks

David

Hi David

For the last year we've been running individual gear reviews rather than trying to do a round-up of lots of things in one category.

We did recently review Summit to Eat freeze-dried meals (which I loved except for the eggy breakfast). Personally I only use meals like this if on a longer backpack with no opportunity to get resupply food along the way; otherwise I use normal food from grocery stores, but we may look at more ranges in future if planning another backpack with no supplies.

Another thing to have a look at is David Lintern's more in-depth look at camping food here.
