Dating Walks

Postby davidjack » Wed Apr 04, 2018 10:08 pm

I think the website is first rate. So many helpful features. Two things I'm wondering about...the first is if it is possible to add a date when the walk was last updated and the second is to have a ticky box thing for your walks just like the Munros etc. Not a criticism, just something else to consider if it is possible on your excellent website. Thank you for your efforts and your wonderful photographs.

Hi David, thanks for the feedback.

We're constantly making updates to the walks descriptions - an average of 20 routes are changed every week - but in some cases we change only part of walk either because someone has let us know of a specific change, or it fitted with our update plans to rewalk only a section of a route rather than all of it (if we think the rest is unchanged).

For example, we've been informed Carnoch Bridge has been removed and have amended the affected Cape Wrath Trail route accordingly - but we haven't been and rewalked it all, so to give an 'update date' would be misleading. It would also lead some walks that haven't changed at all in years to seem out of date when in fact they are completely up to date - it tends to be the same walks that have frequent changes!

If you do ever find a walk that needs an update, let us know using the contact link near the bottom - we're lucky to get lots and lots of notes and updates on routes from users all the time, and even if we can't make the complete change from what we receive (for example the route line has changed and the user letting us know doesn't have full info), we always have a list of walks to revisit.

Your second suggestion - marking off walks completed - is something we plan to do, but I can't give an ETA at the moment.
