Photo upload size limits

Hi Paul / Helen,

Have the photo upload size limits changed recently?

Until now I've just resized photos to a width of 690 pixels (as requested in the upload box) and uploaded them without issue. Today I'm getting an error message saying they're over 500kB and therefore too big to add to walk reports. Haven't had that problem before - do I need to reduce the size further?

No changes made I'm afraid - in fact I'm just back from a few days in Knoydart so defo not me!

It'd be quite odd to have a photo only 690 pixels wide but then more than 500kb - most photos of that size are much smaller. What program do you use to reduce them?

I use Paint 3D. The batch I want to upload are all between 550 and 800 kB after resizing, so they're all over the limit. Strange that I've never had the same issue before (though I can't check how big previous uploads were as I delete the resized photos from my laptop afterwards). Do you have a different programme you recommend?

Edit - aha! Just realised I saved the batch as PNG images rather than JPEGs. Just tried saving as a JPEG instead and it's much smaller. Thanks for your help!
