Route description: Quoyness Cairn, Sanday

Big sign at car park saying no dogs and warning of cows and calves on route. Could see cows with very young calves near the path just before the cairn so didn't attempt it. Fortunately had parked at the closest car park! Disappointing as we had went to Sanday to visit the cairn, there was no warning about this on Historic Scotland either.

That's a shame, I hope you found some other nice things to do on Sanday.

When we visited a few years ago (without a dog), these cows were the most nervous cows I've ever come across - stampeding all over the place while we escaped over a barbed wire fence.
