I had always hoped to paddle across to Ailsa Craig, but finding no-one else interested I took advantage of a boat trip organised through the Relative Hills Society to finally claim this one.

With time to kill in the morning I first took in Grey Hill from a lay-by on the A77, though due to low cloud the view of my main objective 12 miles away was sadly obscured. Things were put right spectacularly in the afternoon, with the cloud lifting right on cue to ensure we had superb views from the summit after a very steep ascent to the summit via the castle. Thank you RHS for a memorable day out.
