High winds put pay to plans for Ben Avon so we settled on the corbett Sgor Mor from Linn of Dee.

Got to the car park at 8am and was able to find a space (alot less busy than my last visit) and met Jen and Brad

The sky was a mixed bag of cloud and blue as we set off on the track towards Whitebridge

Just as we got to the edge of the tree to turn up the hill we got hit by a heavy shower and donned waterproofs.

The initial climb was up a deer track through the purple heater and we gained height quite easily, stopping at the tree to take off jackets as it had now cleared.

It went pathless through the heather at this point until we reached the moorland where we made a beeline for the ridge.

Strong wind kept our heads down for a few kilometres as we admired the views to the main Cairngorm summits to the North and the open expanse to the south.

We stopped for lunch at a rock feature just below the summit where we got some shelter.

Popping onto the summit we continue west to the spur before heading North to try and avoid the worst of the bog.

and headed toward the path under Carn a' Mhaim. The views towards Devil's point were great and we saw a full rainbow.

We hit the path and headed back toward Derry lodge (which was a lot quieter than I have recently seen) and on to Linn of Dee car park (which was now overflowed with camper vans).
