Well the first time was back in December 1991 with the Geography Dept. so here I am almost 29 years later doing it again. Went with T this time in a socially distanced fashion. Car park very busy despite it being a Monday. Thought the hill would be really busy too but in the end it was not too bad. Back in 1991 there was snow and cloud and no real view, this time there was sun and some cloud and some great views. All clear at the top of Bein Ghlas, unfortunately only fleeting glimpses over to An Stuc from top of Ben Lawers, looking south though was not too bad. These were T's 17 and 18 munros and I must say it was a much better, nicer day than when we did Cruach Ardrain last year (2019) around the same time. My thighs though are just as sore.
Warning
Please note that hillwalking when there is snow lying requires an ice-axe, crampons and the knowledge, experience and skill to use them correctly. Summer routes may not be viable or appropriate in winter. See winter information on our skills and safety pages for more information.
